I started my therapy training (a Level 2 Counselling Skills couse) in 2019 and went on to a Level 3 in 2020, where we mixed theoretical learning about the approach with regular practical practice of 'doing counselling' skills, live with a peer from the college group. There would also be another peer observing and making notes about our performance. These were calles Skills Triads, and were a practice that continued right across the Level 3 and the two year Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling course.
Between 2024 and mid 2025 I provided around 150 free voluntary counselling session hours - in house - for tennants and workers of a housing co-operative, and for the clients of an addiction service in my local area.
I've been a qualified therapist since early 2025 and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Beverley College. I set up my own private practise in Feb 2026 and am currently seeing clients from my home therapy space.
